UCU Helps Ukraine - Stryker drill

Below is the text of a letter we received from the Lviv Military Hospital after we shipped them a Stryker drill used for cranial surgeries. There are several soldiers in the hospital who require such surgeries, but the hospital did not have the proper equipment.

With the help of Dr. Anne-Marie Humniski, Staff ER Physician, The Credit Valley Hospital, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, The University of Toronto, who helped us research the viability of a used drill we found for a very good price and Roman Litwinchuk of the Canada Ukraine Foundation, who helped us purchase and ship the drill (the manufacturer does not sell to the general public) we were able to deliver this device in time to help out the injured soldiers.

The money for the drill was collected privately by UCU staff and their friends as the funds that are donated to the UCU Helps Ukraine fund are specifically earmarked for direct financial assistance to the injured soldiers and we did not want to create a precedent where the money is used for any other purposes.

Сьогодні у відділенні нейрохірургії ВМКЦ Західного регіону відбулась передача насадки для краніотома STRYKER, для проведення операцій на черепних коробках пораненим бійцям. Цей вкрай необхідний наконечник (пилку для кістки) закупили і надіслали благодійники Української Кредитної спілки в Торонто. Отримали передачу - старший ординатор нейрохірургічного відділення Іваник Ростислав Юрійович та нейрохірург Іванов Сергій Васильович. Від імені спеціалістів нейрохірургії ВМКЦ ми уклінно дякуємо за організацію купівлі і збір коштів власнику транспортної компанії "Сокіл" з м. Торонто, пану Андрію, Миколі Гудзоватому, Вадиму Котляренко, Юрію Дякунчаку,  Роману Млинко, Михайлу Зінчуку, Роману Литвинчуку, Dr. Anne-Marie Humniski, Віталію Литвинюку. Два місяці тривала ця процедура - пошуки і перемовини, збір грошей і доставка - стільки було докладено зусиль, доброї волі щоб допомогти нашим воїнам! Скільки життів буде врятовано! Ще раз переконуємось, що українці по обидва боки океану - це одна родина, у якій завжди прийдуть на допомогу своїм рідним. Хай Бог благословить вас, та принесе мир і спокій у ваші домівки!
